Project Background

In November 2022, an old ship model owned by the shipowner suffered radiator damage that caused the diesel engine cooling system to fail, affecting normal ship operation. The ship model had been discontinued for years, and the original Volvo diesel engine radiator could not be procured through conventional channels; there was no off-the-shelf standard substitute in the market.

Key Challenges

The radiator structure and dimensions of the old ship model differed significantly from modern standard parts, the OEM parts had been discontinued, and there was little market circulation; the radiator not only needed to meet cooling heat exchange performance but also had to precisely match the diesel engine installation interface and engine room space dimensions, with high customization requirements and technical difficulty.

Solution

AMTS, relying on customized production channels and a technical team, conducted on-site surveying and drawing review of the shipowner's original radiator. Based on installation dimensions and heat exchange area, we customized and produced a radiator that meets Volvo diesel engine brand specifications, and simultaneously followed up on the production process to ensure the quality of key processes such as welding, pressure testing and anti-corrosion treatment.

Project Result

The customized radiator was delivered on time within 5-10 working days, with precise installation dimensions and heat exchange performance reaching OEM level. The diesel engine cooling system resumed normal operation. The shipowner highly praised AMTS's non-standard customization capability and delivery control ability.
